This will continue to be a trend as long as game develope1 and publishe1 keep increasing their spending on marketing and actual development costs, while not showing that reflective in the cost of the product.nAnd honestly it’s the game1 themselves that have allowed this trend to continue.nThis is the game1 mind – they want innovation, new graphics, nnew gameplay mechanics, better voice action and story, etc.nEven for those thay might simply buy Call of Duty or Halo, they want that experience to bigger, better, more features. And they want it every year, as seen every single year they break the previous selling record. People bash Activision, but damn they have three separate developing studios of talented people to give Call of Duty that two-three year development cycle a blockbuster game needs.nUbisoft does the same thing, employing multiple of their in house studios to develop various aspects of Assassi1 Creed.nNow this is what I think. I think Ubisoft decided to try to do something that Activision choose not to do with Call of Duty. They still wanted to have an Assassin Creed game for PS3 and 360 owne1 this holiday.nSo they were spread thin. They had a next gen game using a new engine to try and make the most of next gen, while also trying to add a good current gen game.nFar Cry 4’s early reviews proves they can make amazing game. But Far Cry 4 isn’t near the fan base of Assassi1 Creed.nIf you remember the fi1t AC game, the hype was huge, and the result was varied. They really didn’t nail what we now know as AC gameplay till the second game. But once they had that formula, they ran with it.nI think Unity would have been better if they had done next gen only or cross gen. However since it was based on doing new things, they did next gen only.nWatch, the next Assassin Crees game will be the AC2 of this generation.
